"Boyfriend" of Nadine Newman.
Met Nadine through an online dating site. She was happy to share cropped photos and nudes, but refused to show her face. She also lied, telling Jim that she was 18.
He figured out she was younger on their first date, right after the events of My Sister's Problem chapter 2. He tells her that she's just a child, and he can't be her boyfriend. He's happy to be friends, because they have so much in common to talk about. But when he takes her somewhere the following thursday, it's like he's a cool uncle taking a niece to the fairground. He clearly cares about her, but his interest is no longer romantic. He wants to protect her from other people she might meet on that site; so he kind of lets her imagine that the situation between them might develop later.
He's in his early to mid thirties; not sure yet what he looks like.
He finds that he enjoys looking after a child. His own daughter died several years ago, and his marriage broke down over the following year, so to him it seems natural to take on a paternal role around someone who's close to the age he can imagine his daughter being.
